Tropical Oasis, a new treatment center in Costa Rica, opens its doors in October.

...Costa Rica Center

While working as clinician at CRC Health Group’s Azure Acres, Nick Russi had always wanted to start his own treatment center. Earlier this, year, teaming up with his family as financial backers, Russi decided to do just that. Having traveled for years to Costa Rica, Russi bought a house there with the intention of opening a treatment facility. In October, Tropical Oasis, Russi’s new center, will begin treating its first clients.

Nick RussiTropical Oasis is starting off with nine beds, offering 30-day, 60-day and 90- day care. “Our treatment model is a traditional one based on the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous,” says Russi, who will be executive director of Tropical Oasis. The new facility will be marketing primarily in the United States, aimed at the private pay marketplace and charging $16,000 for a 30-day stay. But there is also a tremendous need locally for treatment among the Costa Rican population, according to Russi. “A portion of our profits will go toward scholarship opportunities for locals in need of help,” he says.
