New Public-Backed Addiction Treatment Center in Montana  E-mail
Addiction Treatment Industry Newswire

01/11/2014 -ATIN - In a major treatment industry development in Montana, state government funding has backed the development and opening of a new addiction treatment facility in Butte, the only stand-alone publicly-backed residential center in a state that has historically been hit hard by highly intractable methamphetamine substance abuse treatment problems.

New $5M Center

The new $5M center, officially opened on Wednesday, will have two 16-bed wings and will not represent an addition of much capacity, if any at all, since the program was previously run out of an old med surg facility. There are hopes for a few more hires as all 57 employees transfer to the new complex, where clients are expected to stay residentially for periods of 35-40 days. Detox will be run in a separate building that also includes administration.

Quick 18-Mo Build

The development of the Montana Chemical Dependency Center took only 18-months, representing the coming together of many sectors on the public and private side in a common sense of urgency about the rising tide of addiction. That sense is becoming more and more common at the state and local level across the nation as governor after governor, Republican and Democrat, increasingly echo Montana's Steve Bullock, who told 150 people assembled at a dedication ceremony on Wednesday that "we have learned we cannot simply arrest our way out of the addiction problem."

Public/Private Partnership

Community, Counseling and Correctional Services Inc., CCCS Corp., Montana's top publicly oriented non-profit, (Rimrock Foundation is the top private funding oriented non-profit addiction treatment player in the state) financed construction and development the new treatment center in a 19-yr lease arrangement and management contract with the state of Montana. CCCS Corp in 2007 opened an 80-bed corrections oriented center it had built for the state and has since managed as the methamphetamine specialty center Nexus Corrections Program, one of the largest and most comprehensive efforts at treating methamphetamine addiction in the nation.
