| SERENE CENTER LONG BEACH CRITICAL NEW LINK IN CHRONIC DISEASE CHAIN |

-ATIN- -07/29/08- Serene Center Long Beach, a new 38-bed sober living continuing care faciilty for men, opened its doors earlier this month, offering a critical new link in the chain of continuing care as addiction comes to be more and more treated as a chronic disease. Like many entrepreneurs in the treatment industry, founder and CEO Andrew Martin came to the addiction treatment industry out of a desire to help a loved one - his wife - who later tragically died of an overdose. A serial entrepreneur who has started a number of companies over the years with total sales of around $15 million, Martin has chosen his addiction treatment niche carefully, launching Serene Center, a highly differentiated continuing care product, into a treatment market that is hungry for ways to realize on a vision of a chronic disease model that has been loudly espoused by clinicians as well as leading industry executives like CRC's Barry Karlin. Martin says there are three main objectives to the program at Serene Center: "First, we provide certified individual counseling one time each week in order to continue implementation of recovery tools, group process each week to add peer accountability, and we drug test every three days to ensure abstinence. Second, we deliver life skills education and community resources management on a daily basis to improve quality of life. Third, we provide a large community of up to 38 men that are all trying to better their lives through the principles of healthy living taught using our trademarked Balanced Center Living Model." Priced at $1,350 per month, Serene Center is at the high-end when compared to ordinary halfway houses, but very reasonably priced when compared to high-end sober living communities like The Sanctuary in Delray Beach, FL, which charges around $3,000 per month. And viewed within the context of being a critical link in the chronic disease model step down process - Serene Center falls somewhere between a halfway house and full fledged extended care - Serene Center appears to be highly reasonably priced.
